    9 First Annual Great Basin Highland Games and Scottish Gathering.  An entire day of vendors, Highland Games with both women and men competing in the caber toss, hammer throw, stone toss and other tests of strength.  Bagpipe bands, fiddlers, Scottish dancers and storytellers will be performing all day. This fundraiser is an evening of family entertainment showcasing the western way of life in Harney County. The headline act will be Joni Harms, a highly acclaimed western singer from Canby. Other entertainment includes: local storytelling and interactive art demonstrations. There will also be a youth art & writing contest and a show of local western art. Western art will be for sale through a silent auction. The featured art piece, donated by Michelle Severe, will be on display as well.   17 Wine and Food Festival. A major fund-raiser for Hospice; the proceeds stay in Harney County and are used for the residents of the area. Located at the Burns Elks Lodge from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Contact Cheryl Keniston at (541) 573-8360.

Harney County Homemakers Christmas Fair.  Held in the Memorial Building at the Fairgrounds.  For full details or to reserve space, call the Extension office at (541) 573-2506. Always the first Saturday in December.

 

    1 Christmas Bazaar. Catholic Church, 685 N. Fairview. 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To reserve a space, call (541) 589-2933.

 

    2 Chamber Music Society Christmas Concert at 3 PM at the Church of the Nazarene.  Orchestra, Chorus and Bell Choir will be performing.  Reception to follow, donations accepted.

 

    5 Harney County Business Roundtable.

    6 Coyote Cinema.  7PM at the Racine Building, corner of W Adams and N Egan, Burns.  Everyone welcome, admission by donation. Free popcorn.
