About the Harney County Chamber of Commerce
Mission Statement
The Harney County Chamber of Commerce brings value to its members by promoting economic well being through leadership and advocacy for business, industry, education and tourism.
Strengthening the Local Economy
The Harney County Chamber of Commerce promotes the local economy by encouraging Harney County Chamber of Commerce members and Harney County residents to shop locally. All referrals given out by the Harney County Chamber of Commerce are members. The Chamber of Commerce website has detailed information about local businesses in the community. The Harney County Chamber also provides many educational opportunities throughout the year during our Chamber Forums held quarterly and also offers free resume training to all residents.
Promoting the Community
The Harney County Chamber of Commerce promotes the local community in a variety of ways. We provide lists of community events and local non-profits as well as visitor, relocation and economic development information about Burns, Hines and Harney County. The Chamber’s Annual Awards Banquet promotes local residents with awards that are presented to the Man and Woman of the Year, Business Person of the Year and Young Farmer/Rancher of the Year among others. The Harney County Chamber of Commerce also sponsors the annual John Scharff Migratory Bird Festival held the first weekend of April each year.
Providing Networking Opportunities
The Harney County Chamber of Commerce promotes networking by sponsoring Business After Hours Mixers at local businesses. The mixers are an excellent opportunity to meet other Chamber members and learn about their businesses. Other special events such as the Harney County Chamber Coffee Clatter also provide great opportunities for members to network with other business professionals.
Representing and Supporting Business
The Harney County Chamber of Commerce represents business concerns to local, regional, state and federal entities. While you keep your business running, the Chamber watches your back on issues like Workers’ Comp, Healthcare, and job killer anti-business bills. As a member of the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce and the US Chamber of Commerce, we are a strong voice that reaches our legislative body with issues concerning small business.
